For many who know me will know that back in October 2014 I found out that I unfortunately had a brain tumour.
Six weeks prior to this I had been suffering with dizziness whilst playing sports, which for me was unusual as I am very active, this turned into daily headaches.
When referred to Sheffield Teaching Hospital late September 2014 it still couldn’t be confirmed if the tumour was cancerous or benign. However the confidence the surgeon and his team gave me, made me feel everything was going to be ok.
Once surgery had been done and the news was good that it was non cancerous I still had months of recovery in front of me.
The surgery affected my balance and eyesight, my left eye was so disturbed from the surgery it took around 2 months for it to recover, in this period walking 10 yards without someone beside me was a very hard challenge, but with support from family and friends it was a lot easier to cope. It took a total of about 4 months to be back to a fully functional lifestyle.
The help from the specialists was amazing throughout, so this challenge is to raise money to help people who find themselves where I was as I was one of the lucky ones
