Story
Thank you for supporting my TCS London Marathon journey with the British Heart Foundation. Probably the maddest decision I have ever made! Trying to fit the training in between running a business and raising my 3 and 18 month old is challenging but I am so determined to do it and am so grateful to my husband Will and my family already for their support. Anyway, this is my story for those of you who may not know and this is why I'm running the 2022 London Marathon!
My dear dad passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from an undiagnosed heart condition in August 2020 at only 66. My mum, little boy and me were holidaying with dad in the Isle of White and after a very lovely, but normal day visiting the Donkey Sanctuary the nightmare began and that evening my mum and I watched my dads life slip away from us. There was nothing anyone could have done for Dad, his heart failed and his life was taken.
My heart genuinely ached, the most empty feeling....no one will ever be able to explain in words how if feels until they experience it.....
I don't think my heart will ever heal from losing my dad at just 33, he was my biggest supporter and we had the strongest father and daughter bond. Two months after dad passed I gave birth to my darling Sophia and she has helped my heart mend a little. I think in some ways dad left to make room for her and help us all try to come to terms with the loss.
Some time has passed now and it genuinely feels as though my mum, brother, myself and our children have had to start a new way of life without dad in it, which we are slowly getting used to. The more time that passes, the easier it becomes, but the heartache of losing dad will never go away. This is why I have a strong sense of wanting to do something to help others.
As such I have chosen to raise money for the British Heart Foundation to help fund their research and breakthroughs and find cutting edge new treatments for people living with heart disease.
Me and my brother George will be running the 26 miles together in memory of our dear dad, Mark.It was too late for our dad but we want to raise money to help heal other peoples hearts.
Donations to my page will be sent directly to the British Heart Foundation in a fast and secure way. Thank you so, so much for supporting my cause.
