Story
I will be running the London Run to the Beat Half Marathon on September 8!
I signed up for this half marathon partly because I saw it as a challenge I wanted to conquer. Those who know me well will know that I am a weak runner...“turtle pace” comes to mind.
The other reason I signed up was to raise money for the Stroke Association. My mum suffered a stroke last summer which completely changed her and my family’s lives. The severity of mum’s stroke rendered her unable to use the right side of arm, to articulate or engage in conversation, to walk properly and she suffered from depression. Mum has made significant improvement since last year through ongoing rehabilitation, and strength and determination on her part! This has however been a long journey, and the journey is not over.
My mum has been lucky enough to have a huge amount of support from family and friends. Not all stroke patients however have this support network, and so I am raising money for The Stroke Association. They are inspiring as they provide stroke patients with emotional, practical and financial support.
So, I’m running for mum and my chosen charity!
Please dig deep and donate for a great cause.
Grace
