After putting it off for a couple of years I have finally decided to do a sponsored event that will challenge me to depths I have never be before. But more so then this, to raise money for an amazing charity organisation that I hold close to my heart - World Vision! 

So I have decided to cycle 500km from the Pacific coast of Costa Rica to the Caribbean Coast - I have been told that this is one of the hardest cycle events as not only is there a great distance to cover, most of it is off-road, cycling through banana plantations and up and down non-active volcanoes. However this is all for such a great cause!

As many of you would already know I love travelling and while travelling I have been fortunate to visit orphanages. The pictures attached to this page are images of an orphanage in Cambodia that I visited with friends where we were so touched by the children; they just wanted to be loved. It was a small orphanage but had over 25 children who shared two small bedrooms, one for the boys and one for the girls, sleeping on and underneath one double bed and along the floor with no mattresses, they were just so grateful to have a place they could call ‘home’. Since I have had it in my heart that I want to help children such as these to have a bright future! 

World Vision are an amazing charity that reach out to children and communities that have been hit by disasters such as the war in Syria, and the recent troubles in the Philippines. However, they also reach out to children who live with fear, and communities that are in sever poverty. World Vision does not set up camp and help these communities but they work closely with the communities to build a future for them and projects often last over 15 years. Such projects involve medical assistance, water sanitation along with basic needs but they also provide scholarships for children to have a future giving them the ability to dream.

World Visions main aim is for All Children to live without fear. Unfortunately the world has a long way to go to meet this, however, if we all help in whatever way we can, we can be closer to that aim. No child should feel unloved, and no child should fear survival.
