Land's End to John O'Groats · 1 November 2020 ·
My Challenge - I'll be cycling 1000km in less than 30 days. That's Land's End to John O'Groats (and a little bit further). On my best ever month, I've cycled 350km so this will be a significant challenge.
Why? - because FCK 2020 and FCK Cancer - One of my closet friends of over 25yrs was given a terminal diagnosis and I want to do what I can to help those that are helping him, and others in all the ways they need.
Below is David's story...
"At 39 with a beautiful wife and a gorgeous 5 yr old son I was diagnosed with oesphehgus cancer that has spread to my liver and unfortunately it’s terminal. They reckon I have anywhere between 6 - 12 months to live. So gut wrenching as it is, I‘m a fighter. As many will know I try to be as positive as I can, Since December 2008 I’ve lived with MS and feel I had successfully adapted my life to be as fulfilling as it can be with a life long unique condition. I‘ll be taking the same approach to the this Terminal Diagnosis ... I’ll never give up this fight as I want to see my son grow old and be the best husband for my amazing wife.
After speaking with a number of friends and family after my recent diagnosis I thought it would be wise to raise money for the Lothians NHS Oncology department. The NHS has truly stepped up to the plate in helping me through this diagnosis, and the care they are providing me means that I can spend more quality time with my family and friends."
