Story
Despite saying never EVER again I decided to run the London Marathon for a second time in order to raise money and awareness for The Meningitis Trust. Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances I have had to pull out of the London Marathon and so I've decided to the Great North Run instead.
Local Perth lad Alan Glynn lost his daughter Alexis Rose to this illness, His beautiful baby daughter, was 19 months old when she died very suddenly of meningitis in 2011. She had bags of personality and was by nature a fighter - born nearly 3 months early and weighing 2lb 12 ounces she spent a while in hospital alongside her twin sister but quickly grew in strength. She was always laughing and making Alan and his family laugh, she was so happy and healthy that they never thought that anything could ever take her away from them, but meningitis ended her life within hours.
Since then Alan and his wife have decided to continue Alexis's fight and refuse to let meningitis beat them by raising money which ill help raise awareness of this terrible illness and also provide vital support to families and survivors.
I am truly honoured to be helping them in doing this by running the marathon as part of Team Alexis Rose, so please dig deep and support this great cause as well as motivating me to get my large ass and brittle knees round that famous track.
Thank you all in advance Gordon.
