Story

Thanks for watching GOO:GA. Hannah and the rest of the creative team would love for you to consider donating to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity if you enjoyed the film... or if you hated it.  Either way, kick a bit of moolah their way. Here's why:

GOO:GA was filmed when I was 33 weeks pregnant, and had been under the watchful eye of a team of fetal cardiac specialists from GOSH and University College London Hospital for 13 weeks.  Four weeks after the film was shot, I was scheduled for a c-section.  The night before, there were two tabs open on my computer: one shopping for baby blankets, the other researching neonatal organ donation.  Even though (SPOILER ALERT)  I lost my battle against Hope and performed a bit of Dead Pug Magic, I was still preparing myself for two very different outcomes.  After baby Wolfgang was born his heart failed as expected, and he was whisked by a specialist ambulance to GOSH where they successfully implanted a device to close the communication in the PAVM via catheter.  However, he was left with an aneurysm that could have caused blood clots, so we had to anticoagulate him. We were told to wait and see if maybe the heart could remodel itself, but he would likely need surgery to repair it… a scary thought I crammed to the back of my mind for 8 months while caring for my gorgeous guy. Then exactly one year to the day after the word bombs fell, his cardiologist phoned with the results of the previous week’s CT scan; the aneurysm is gone. His heart is ‘spectacular.’ It has remodelled itself. He doesn’t need surgery. He doesn’t even need medicine anymore. I hesitate to throw the word 'miracle' around because I don't want to detract from the enormous amount of medical science and care that saved him, but that part did feel miraculous.

We stayed at GOSH for two weeks. While Wolfgang received an incredible standard of care, they were also attuned to our needs as a family as we lived at the hospital too.  The doctors and nurses there are my heroes. GOSH saved my baby.  I owe them everything.  I hope that our fans who are in a position to do so will consider donating to their charity.  And flip through the gallery to see pictures of Wolfie!  xxx Hannah
