Story

Trans Pennine Trail from Southport to Hornsea: 215 miles, 346 kilometres

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Any donations for this brilliant charity will be greatly appreciated and please don't forget to add Gift Aid if you are a UK tax payer! 🙏🏼

I don't know what made me say yes to this crazy adventure... wait, yes I do... because anyone that knows me knows how crazy I am and that this is just the kind of crazy thing I do! 🤪

After refurbishing and building up a bike from scratch during the first lockdown I started to enjoy cycling as a hobby. The thought of cycling more than 10 miles was nerve wracking to say the least, but soon enough I built up to riding 40 miles every weekend and even completed my first metric century (100km).

This will be a five day journey, with stopovers in Stockport, Doncaster, Selby and Hull South Cave. Give me a wave if I'm passing by! 👋🏼

Day 1: Southport > Stockport - 67.6 miles, ^950ft
Day 2: Stockport > Doncaster - 63.6 miles, ^2,825ft
Day 3: Doncaster > Selby - 34.7 miles, ^275ft
Day 4: Selby > Hull South Cave - 30.4 miles, ^175ft
Day 5: Hull South Cave > Hornsea > Hull - 50.2 miles, ^600ft

Including stopovers and getting home, this ride is going to be approximately 250 miles. The main challenge for me will be riding the longer miles solo over 5 consecutive days. Not to mention the elevation on Day 2! But it is all for a good cause which is keeping me focused and motivated.

Many of us struggle with mental ill health at some point in our life, whether it is a life changing trauma or one day of anxiety, and it can be difficult to reach out and ask for help. It is so important that we look after ourselves and each other to maintain our mental health and well-being as best we can.

YoungMinds are a wonderful charity that help to tackle and raise awareness for children and young people's mental health. Over 61% of young people don't speak up because they are too scared of what others will think.

It is so important that young people learn that they do have a voice and can use it, especially when it comes to mental health. YoungMinds ensure that no young person feels alone, and they get the support they need, whenever they need it, no matter what.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
