Story
RUN FOR JOHN In 2021 John Logie lost his heroic battle with oesophageal cancer, a true gentleman, that was loved by many, disliked by none, he could light up any room and was an example of how to live for all! a true loss to humanity, this horrible disease has left his family and friends heartbroken,John was only 67 and still had so much life to live! In Johns final weeks he was given the expert, love, devotion and care of the mammoth hearted people at the Thames hospice in Bray(Maidenhead)……they where truly remarkable and allowed John to live out his final moments with dignity, and supported me(Adam Logie)and my family every step of that horrific journey, in the weeks that passed after, I was shocked to learn that this invaluable, humanitarian resource that we are so lucky to have in our community, is NOT fully funded by the government!!!! Upon hearing this information,my friends and I wanted to do something to raise some money for the hospice,as a show of gratitude and support for the vital role this organisation played in John and his family’s life at a unbelievably difficult difficult time for them all. Its hard to find someone that hasn’t had a loved one that’s sadly been aligned with the care of a hospice at one time. !!THE CHALLENGE!! Myself and my three closest friends, Adam Hickey, Tommy Puddle and Adam Goldie. have committed to running the Fortitude Challenge, in March 2023, the challenge consists of running either a 3 mile 4 mile or 5 mile trail run through a gruelling off road course in the Sussex countryside. Easy enough ? …..NO! A lap has to be run every hour,on the hour starting at 7am, you have to be back at the start line every hour, for 10 hours,or you are disqualified, It’s going to be tough.!!! You can find out more about the event in the link https://www.fullste.am/fortitude/ The minimum we will hopefully run is 120k between the 4 of us in 10 hours. We understand that people are stretched to the limit, however this is an amazing organisation that relies on donations to continue there selfless work. So please, please, please, give whatever you can 🙏🏻 # runforJohn
