Story
Hello Again!
Before we go any further, thank you for clicking onto this link. I know that you get pestered to give to any number of worthy causes!
Last year we raised a decent sum for five charities, one of which was Bloodwise. Until a couple of years ago, I had never known anyone who had been affected by blood cancer in any of its various types. You might remember that it was on the last day of my ride from Seattle to San Diego that an old pal left me a phone message: Geoff had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
That was September. Well, to cut a long story short, Geoff is still in remission...wow!
Let nobody tell you that funding research via charities like Bloodwise is a waste: Geoff's treatment involved chemotherapy and stem-cell transplants: it was no cake-walk by any stretch, but the advances made over even five years ago meant a faster, more accurate and less unpleasant course of treatment. Worth my money, defo!
My challenge is to cycle out to Gibraltar, solo and unsupported. The distance is almost 2300 miles, which is the same as the Tour de France: unlike the pros, I will not have any rest days and I will be carrying my own luggage! I want to complete it by riding 21 consecutive centuries, which is one more than I've done previously. So that's all straightforward then, hah-hah!
So that's what it's all about. If you have a couple of minutes spare and can find absolutely nothing better to do, please have a look at my blog at https://llr2019.blogspot.com/ . Wi-Fi allowing, I'll keep it going throughout: consider yourselves warned, hah-hah!
Very best wishes,
Simon.
