Story
Our friend, Archie, has recently been diagnosed with leukaemia. With the support of his incredible family and friends he is fighting this hard and leaving us all in awe of him. As a group we saw how inspiring Archie is and we wanted to raise money and awareness to fight this disease.
Archie is a passionate Liverpool supporter (who has also taken in the odd Southampton game) and therefore what better than to cycle between these two places. Our group, the Legends, are a definite mix of abilities and the 280 miles will challenge all of us. We are leaving Southampton on Friday 10 May, heading through the North Wessex Downs and then onto the Cotswolds before eventually arriving in Hereford some 130 miles later. Day 2 takes us through the Welsh hills to Wrexham before a final day 3 sprint (loose term!) to Liverpool on Sunday 12 May for their final match of the season.
Now if you are visiting our page again, thank you, but you will notice the title has changed. Our group of Legends (and our incredible partners!) have now also entered the Bath Half Marathon. We constantly see how Archie is overcoming all challenges and therefore want to keep doing what we can to remind him we are thinking of him all the time and that we can all stay strong together.
Further great news... on the back of the amazing support and energy that everyone is showing ,the children have spoken! Archie's Aunt Lucy is planning a 3km Fun Run/Walk for children to grand parents for March 2019. More details to come, but it is amazing to see how far the site is reaching and the effect that it is having on us all, regardless of age - Archie, keep inspiring us all!!
We plan more ideas, adventures and challenges so please keep coming back to us and please share this with as many people as possible and help us to help others; the support you give is incredibly appreciated by us all.
Cure Leukaemia helps blood cancer patients to access pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses across the UK. Without these nurses, to ensure patients are monitored and cared for, clinical trials of these new treatments would not run and patients, that have exhausted standard treatment options, would miss out on potentially lifesaving therapies. Every penny raised for Cure Leukaemia helps save lives and also hastens global progress towards the eradication of all forms of blood cancer.
