Ben Nevis Team Challenge · 20 June 2015 ·
We completed our challenge! Below is what we thought was our itinerary. When we arrived we realised the hike up included a 2 mile walk to and back from the moutain, over 15 miles in total. The weather was cloudy but windy and we trekked thought lots of slushy snow the last 30 minutes to the top. Our knees were feeling the heat on the way down. We were thankful to change into our bike gear for the last two stretches. The view was incredible! The sun and rain took turns over the 25 mile cycle with a beautiful row break in the middle. It was much longer than we expected. 11:32 was our official time. It was all for a great cause!!
We have been training to hike up and down Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, cycle 15 miles to Loch, row 3K across in Canadian canoes and then cycle another 10 miles to the finish line. It will be challenging and weather conditions are uncertain. Currently, there's snow on the top of Ben Nevis and the high is 3C.
Scannappeal is an amazing charity that raises money for the Buckinghamshire NHS, therefore, helping all those in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding counties. Funds are raised to assist in purchasing the most state-of-the-art medical equipment. Specialists can then detect and diagnosis cancer, heart failure, hearing loss and many more illnesses, more quickly.
We are excited to do this adventure with our friends Bill & Fiona Baxter. It is a four-man team challenge and we go up together and come down together.
