Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. In April 2015, after ten months of fundraising, three-year old Ollie underwent major surgery - Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, or SDR - in the United States, to alleviate symptoms of spasticity caused by Cerebral Palsy. This procedure was not available to Ollie through the NHS, but the generosity of friends, family and even complete strangers, fundraising and donating, made the operation possible. In the months since, we have observed firsthand, huge improvements in Ollie's movement, day-to-day comfort, independence and confidence.
Ollie, now fast approaching his fifth birthday, is a bright and cheeky boy with a big heart and a wicked sense of humour! He uses these characteristics - along with admirable determination - to cope with the demands of a very intensive schedule of physiotherapy. Ollie's regime is necessary to ensure the best results possible from the SDR surgery.
On Sunday 5th June, Ollie and his Running Ladies (his mummy Hayley, big sister Imogen, auntie Charlene, and good friends Charlotte and Vicki) will be completing the Great Midland Fun Run...and hopefully raising lots of pennies! We'll be taking part in the 8.5 mile fun run - Ollie on his speedy wheels! - to support Ollie's ongoing physiotherapy needs. As it stands, Ollie's funds are set to run out in just three weeks time, at which point his physiotherapy will come to a stop. Therefore we truly mean it when we say no amount is too little!
