JOB DONE!

I completed the GNR in 2hrs 3mins. I was trying for under two hours but had missed a couple of training runs and my legs gave out at 10 miles, making the last three very hard and slow!

The pain was worth it though for this worthy cause - my thanks to all who have helped with their kind donations/sponsorship.

This year's Great North Run will be my last as it is the thirtieth and I have run in (and completed) around half of them!

To celebrate my 'retirement' I am dedicating my final GNR to support RACING WELFARE which helps people who work or have worked in the horseracing industry.

My interest in horseracing began in childhood and was aided and abetted by my late grandfather, Harry Ford. In 1995 we discovered the equine jewel that is Middleham in North Yorkshire. Since that time I have met and become friends with several trainers and many of their staff and I've found them to be dedicated, hardworking people. It is in acknowledgement of their dedication and hard work that I am supporting RACING WELFARE.
