Story
This year some of Sam's friends and family will be running the Great North Run in Sam’s name. This includes Sam's Auntie Lesley, one of Sam's closest friends Ben, friends Callum, James and Jonny. Sam's step cousin Jack is also running in aid of the Samaritans, and friend Kayleigh is running for CALM.
Last year Sam ran his first ever great run and finished it in an amazing time of 1:42:04 finishing in the top 3000 runners. After this, Sam caught the bug for the Great North Run and was determined about running it again this year so he could say he had ran the official route.
In November 2021, Sam was involved in a road traffic incident. Sadly, after incredible care by the staff at the RVI intensive care unit, Sam passed away surrounded by his family.
Following this tragedy Sam's family and friends set up a just giving page and raised over £10,000 to donate to the RVI and Newcastle hospitals charity.
This time, donations gathered will go towards the charity MIND.
MIND provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health illness and campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
