Story
Welcome to the Great North Ultra Marathon Base to Base. A group of Doctors and Paramedics from GNAAS will be running the 70 miles between the 2 airbases in one go. We will be aiming to raise £70 per mile. We will start at Langwathby and take in some big hills over following the Pennine Way to Barnard Castle where we will jump on to the Teesdale way and continue to head to the airbase at Progress House in Stockton. This challenge will likely take 20 to 24 hours non-stop, we are hoping to raise a significant amount of money for the air ambulance that covers our region, any help is greatly appreciated.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 1,640 call outs last year alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
