Ex-forces personnel from GMS Group, are celebrating scooping their ‘Silver Status’ employer under Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme, by tackling Pen y Fan in aid of leading Veteran charity, Combat Stress UK.
In 2018, GMS Group was awarded ‘Bronze Status’ having signed the Armed Forces Covenant, but following continued support to the Armed Forces community, its latest award demonstrates a consistent alignment of company values with the Covenant.
Combat Stress is the UK’s leading charity for Veterans’ mental health and helps former servicemen and women deal with issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. The charity provides specialist treatment and support, focusing on those with complex mental health issues.
GMS Group’s team of ex-forces staff will be led up the famous peak in Wales by Simon Williams, National Contracts Manager and also includes Ben Neate, Ethan Reading, George Knight, Wayne Compton, Adam Crane and Lisa Nicholson. Ex-forces personnel John Reading, Paul Burnham and Dean Jones from Jaguar Land Rover will also be joining the team’s charity challenge.
Pen y Fan is the highest peak in South Wales, situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park and the climb will take place on Friday 21st August.
