Mary Jones Challenge · 11 July 2015 ·
Last year I set out on a challenge to lose weight and many people encouraged me along the way. Some even found my efforts inspirational.
The story of a young girl who saved for six years and walked over twenty-five miles to own a Bible in her own language, is for me, much more inspirational. I decided to join the Mary Jones Challenge to give a focus to my ongoing fitness regime and to make all the effort count towards something that can change the lives of others too.
In 1804, the British and Foreign Bible Society was formed by Thomas Charles and others in response to needs which stories like that of Mary Jones had brought to light. Bibles for Alpha is a Bible Society project that raises money for guests on Alpha courses around the world who cannot afford their own Bible. We want to help them receive a copy of the Bible, to read the Word of God and to be able to continue their journey of faith
Bible Society is working for the day when the Bible’s God-given revelation, inspiration and wisdom is shaping lives and communities everywhere.
