Spoken at Alex's funeral by Maureen Dew in celebration of Alex's full but too short life. They express perfectly why I will be running in celebration of Alex's contribution to this world and to those who knew and loved him. The money raised will help with Lymphoma Research so that, God willing, we will 'Beat Blood Cancer' which has so cruelly robbed us of Alex!!
‘Words are so inadequate in the face of such overwhelming loss, but a moment like this couldn’t pass without some words of thanksgiving and in celebration of Alex.
Alex will continue to be the beautiful and unique character he ever was - loving, thoughtful, kind, generous, fun loving and funny, bright, interested and interesting, intelligent, adventurous, brave and courageous, spiritual, deep, wise and wonderful - a real gift to his family, and a special individual to all of us who've been blessed to know and love him.
And as we remember the much anticipated growing life in the womb, precious new born infant and cherished child at the breast, sturdy toddler, boy, adolescent, teenager and handsome young man you became, we'll think of you journeying, as intrepid as ever - to places beyond our present reach.
Alex, you will never be forgotten, for you are – and will forever remain - so very dear and beloved.’
