Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am Steve Phillips, a coach and co - founder of Glossop Judo Club.
Many may know that in January this year as a result of surgery to remove a tumour from the base of my skulI, I suffered a stroke . The stroke affected my left side and my ability to swallow (so no pie 'n' chips). I spent 7 weeks in the stroke unit of UHSM (Wythenshaw Hospital) whose care, both physical and mentally was fantastic. I am one of the lucky ones as I am making a steady recovery.
Unfortunately around 150,000 people a year in the UK suffer a stroke, about a third of these people are likely to die within the first 10 days.
I never thought it would happen to me, being fit and relatively young (43), I also never thought that with my running experience I would be challenging myself to run a 10k in an hour, but unfortunately goals sometimes have to be changed in view of illness.
Other coaches, players, Mums 'n' Dads and I are running the City of Mancester 10k in aid of The Stroke Association.
Please give generously and support us all in raising money for The Stroke Association.
Thankyou in anticipation,
Steve
