Story
On the 1st of March 2012, I was rushed to hospital the day of our son's first birthday party. My wife, expecting a day of joyful celebration instead had to listen to a doctor telling her that her husband's chances of survival were only 50/50.
Six months later, after a painful operation and tough recovery, I completed my first triathlon. That was the first step of this challenge...
In November I will run the Hillingdon Duathlon - my first ever race of this type. Later that month I will compete in the Essex Off Road Duathlon, where the cycle section is a gruelling mountain bike trek. Then in January 2013 I will attempt the Winter Duathlon at Eton Dorney, at the site of the Olympic events.
Then in February I will complete my first long distance Sportive cycle race; the 60 mile Gatwick challenge. After that, in March, it's the Surrey Hills Challenge and a 90 mile race up Box Hill.
Finally, in April, I will leave my house in Kingston and cycle to work - in Bristol. It's 130 miles door to door from my home in London to the Deal or No Deal studio.
I'm doing this because I nearly died on my son's first birthday, but instead have lived to see my second son arrive this Christmas and am so grateful for the chance to watch them grow.
I hope you will support me. Thank you.
