I have decided to take the first step into both marathon running and raising money for charity and thought what better way to do it then to run for charity.

 

Unlike the hard-core runners out there this is only going to be a half marathon to start, but 13 miles to a 'big guy' like me will feel like a full marathon!!  Although not a full marathon the fund raising is still just as important and the main reason that I decided to get the running shoes on.

 

Having a nan who suffers from dementia I have been able to see how not only does this cruel disease slowly rob you of your senses but also your physical abilities, this made the choice to run for the Alzheimer’s Society an easy one. 

 

I have set the target to raise £500, this could pay for two sessions of the Alzheimer's Carers' Programme for 12 carers.  The Carers' Programme offers practical tips and strategies to help carers to cope with the impact of dementia and gives them information so that they can access local services and start preparing for the future.

 

I know in the tough times money is tight, but I would be grateful for any sponsorship, however big or small, that you are able to give and I know this money will be well spent on caring for the many suffers out there like nan.
