Story
Over recent years, some of my close friends, family and loved ones have fought bravely when diagnosed with cancer. In this day and age, with the wonders of modern medicine, it hardly seems right that lives are taken by this horrendous disease.
As such, I wanted to complete a challenge which is a bit different, physically demanding and above all worthy of people's donations to help those afflicted by cancer. Hopefully giving opportunities for a better quality of life, treatment and a full recovery to as many as possible.
Every penny donated will be sent straight to Cancer Research UK, so they can carry on their amazing work in, preventing, helping and treating the many forms of this cruel disease.
On Sunday the 6th of August, we will set off canoeing on the Ribble Valley canal in Lancashire. My boat will be loaded with enough food and water for 5 days, all my camping goods and all my equipment to keep me safe. The route will last around 117 miles, which means means covering 24 miles a day and paddling for roughly 8 hours. We will follow the entire Ribble Link Canal, leading onto the Leeds and Liverpool canal heading east. Then continuing on the Bridgewater canal, until we hit an inland stretch of the River Mersey. From the River Mersey we will then drop onto the Trent and Mersey canal, which will lead us into Staffordshire and end up in Stone all going well. Hopefully I will have enough battery life for photos along the way, so I will post photos of my progress.
Please wish us well and see you all soon
Glenn
Ps. Every little counts 😀
