Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Many of you will know my reasons behind taking on this challenge!

Our family are currently going through a very tough time, following the passing of my very special Sister-in-Law, Heidi Kendrick. Heidi was an absolute hero who battled cancer head-on.

In September 2013, Heidi went in to Keech Hospice, having been given a prognosis of just 2 months - something that Heidi being Heidi did not accept! During her time there, the treatment that she received was 2nd to none. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff there were absolutely amazing!

In a recording of Heidi, that I have just listened to (recorded in May 2017) Heidi describes her experiences with Keech. The following are some of Heidi's quotes: "The staff listened to me, understood my concerns and made all of the arrangements, to meet my needs immediately". "They helped me to walk" (despite experts elsewhere telling her that this would not be possible). "The nurses became friends and even felt like a 2nd family". "They always knew what to do for the best". "They also helped my visiting family during my time there"."They are fabulous and cannot be praised enough". "Keech is full of Super-Humans".

Soon after this recording was made, Heidi's health deteriorated and she again went in to Keech. Again, the level of care she received was so many levels above anything I had seen elsewhere and made what turned out to be her final weeks, as comfortable as possible.

Keech Hospice is still there for us, as a family, now - doing all that they can to help us through this very sad time.

In order to operate and offer their high level of care, Keech Hospice requires such a high amount of funding, from donations.

So with this in mind, I have managed to obtain a place in the 2018 London Marathon, to run in Heidi's memory and help raise much needed funds for this amazing place.

I have ran one marathon before (Milton Keynes in 2014), which when completed I did state....'Never Again'!! I know it is going to be tough to train for and ultimately run but I want to do this in Heidi's memory and it will be so worth it....by seeing Keech Hospice benefit as a result from your donations.

Thank you so much for spending the time to read my story. Any donations would be really appreciated.
