Story

I am taking part in the Brighton Marathon on the 6 April 2014. I am raising money for Make a Wish foundation, a charity that do amazing work for children and young people battling every day with life threatening diseases’ and illnesses, It takes around £4,000 to grant a wish for every child in the united kingdom that is suffering with a disease, and statistics show that there is around 20,000 young individuals suffering with life threatening diseases within the United kingdom. I hope by running the Brighton Marathon. I can raise a small amount of money to help[ go towards one of these young children getting the wishes they deserve. No one deserves what nature can cause them, especially young children, and especially my Inspiration for this Marathon, a young sporty 10 year old boy named Danny green. Danny loved karate, fishing, football, all the activities a young boy of 10 would love. But one day, the 3 of November Danny became light headed and dizzy whilst playing football. The next day he went  to school but later that night he suffered a headache and on the Saturday 5 November Danny started being sick. Over the weekend he continued being very sick and the headaches had got worse so Danny’s mum and dad took him to their local hospital to be examined. Danny’s headaches increased in pain until it was so unbearable that he was sick.

By Thursday morning, a week since he had started to show symptoms Danny collapsed and observations and analysis showed a cause for concern. He was taken for multiple scans which confirmed the families’ worse nightmare as diagnostics confirmed a Brain tumour.  Over the  time that Danny was being treated he was amazingly strong and brave, he was a superstar, he never once moaned or cried about his treatment which left him with severe mucusitis and sickness. Danny was very poorly but Danny’s fighting spirit continued to show and the MRI scans during this time showed that the tumour was shrinking. He amazed staff with his fight and determination, his progress was amazing. Unfortunately during the last round of high dose chemo Danny got pneumonia and ended up back in Intensive Care struggling to breathe. He was put on a ventilator and after nearly two weeks sadly lost his fight for life on 25th July 2012.

Danny was an inspirational young individual who battled for his life for many months. Whoever you speak to within Danny’s family they can all say how inspirational he was during his entire life. I’m hoping with the money that YOU give  will help go towards children and young people just like Danny to get the wishes that they have always dreamed of. Danny has inspired me to enormously to take part in the Brighton marathon, and if I can be as strong as Danny was then I’m sure I’ll be able to complete the Brighton Marathon.
