Story

Hi everyone,

Most of you know me as Britt. I'm a Support Leader for Endometriosis UK's Glasgow Endometriosis Support Group. I am excited to share with you all that the Glasgow Endo Support Group have teamed up with Sacha + Team over at Sacha's Nails and Makeup to take on a 1in10 Challenge and raise vital funds for Endometriosis UK by hosting an Endo Coffee Morning at 10 am at the salon.

We'd love for you to join us for lots of tea, coffee and cake 13th of March at 10 am, located at Sacha's Nails and Makeup:

2/2 34 Argyll Chambers (Argyll Arcade)

G2 8BD Glasgow

Donations: Please do so through this page if you can't make it and would still like to donate.

If you'd like to learn more about Endometriosis and how you can raise awareness, email us at glasgowgroup@endometriosis-uk.org.

We can't wait to see you all there!

More about Sacha:

Sacha is a huge advocate for people with Endometriosis. Not only has she hosted or set up a fundraiser every March for the past seven years, but she has always lent a listening ear and offered support.

Sacha played a significant part in me getting a diagnosis. I was a client of Sacha's for six years now, and back in 2018, I had seen an Endometriosis UK flyer she had out for clients to take. I realised I had just about every symptom listed on there, and it helped push me to take that to my GP and ask for further investigations. She has been massive support whether she realises it or not and is a fantastic advocate for the Endometriosis community.

More about me:

Like so many others, I went for years (10+) without knowing the source of my pain, and it was just put down to a "bad period".

And to be honest, it wasn't until I was on the phone to my sister complaining about my pain (mind you, eight years into me seeking help for my pain/symptoms) that I heard about Endometriosis (she was studying it at uni).  So fast forward another four years, and one month before my 30th birthday, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis via laparoscopy.

It wasn’t until after my diagnosis, once I finally knew what was causing the pain, that I felt I could and needed to do more. Talk about it more, share my story more and give back more. So, as cheesy as it sounds, I became a volunteer because if I can do something as simple as  help direct them to the resources required to help speed up treatment or better advocate for themselves or to be even there for a wee blether and a cuppa, then it makes everything I’ve had to go through it worth it.

So if you live near the Glasgow area, come to join us on our Facebook group or at our next meeting.

We are so proud to say we are the biggest Endo UK support group in Scotland and would love for you to be a part of it.

Not sure what Endo is? Find out more below -

Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body.

It is a chronic and often debilitating condition that can cause painful periods, painful sex and pelvic pain outside of periods. It may also lead to infertility, fatigue and bowel and bladder problems. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and that assigned female at birth; that's as many as diabetes, yet very few people have even heard of it. The impact can be felt for life, and there is no cure.

It takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis of endometriosis in the UK; that's too long! Your donations will mean that Endometriosis UK can continue to support those affected by Endometriosis through national support groups, information provision and their helpline, and continue to campaign for change, fairer treatment and eventually a cure.

Endometriosis UK is a Registered charity no 1035810 in England and Wales.
