Story
Flowers for Ukraine
Ukraine is famous both for its natural beauty and artistic talent, and here at St Leonard’s Church, Glapthorn, we have dedicated a number of our windows to celebrating Ukraine’s art, culture and its people, and to showcase the many artistic talents that have come out of the country (click here for video). This includes headdresses made out of flowers, a dedication to Ukraine’s role as Europe’s breadbasket, and a tribute to the Red Cross, who are working tirelessly to provide assistance to those affected by the conflict. So, as we pray for a better future for all Ukrainians, we hope you’ll join with us in celebrating Ukraine’s culture and donate generously to our cause, to show that we stand together with Ukrainians for peace and freedom and to seek to relieve the suffering their country.
Red Cross teams are on the ground throughout Ukraine, supporting those who have been affected and displaced by the conflict. They are one of the few organisations that is able to access people in Ukraine, so by donating you’ll be supporting frontline work and assistance to those most affected by the conflict. The Red Cross are providing water, food, shelter, and warm clothes to millions of families that have been forced to flee their homes, and any money we raise will go directly to supporting them in providing assistance to those in need.
Hundreds of thousands of people still have no access to food, water, medical care or electricity. All the money we raise will be used to buy the essential supplies needed to provide humanitarian assistance to those in Ukraine, so please donate generously and think about how you’ll be helping those affected by this conflict.
