The coronavirus pandemic is causing anxiety and frustrations for us all. But for blood cancer patients who cant wait any longer for lifesaving stem cell donations to be delivered, we have the power to save lives in this crisis. Anthony Nolan are taking immediate action to keep donated stem cells moving; from increased health checks on donors, to battling with travel restrictions and border closings to ensure cells get to patients who desperately need them to survive. But they need to raise vital extra funds every month that the coronavirus pandemic goes on to enable this work. Every £100 we raise could help pay to keep their Emergency Handover Hub at Heathrow Airport open 24 hours a day, to enable international couriers who cant go into hospitals due to quarantine rules, to handover donated stem cells to one of the UK volunteers for the final lifesaving leg.
We're collectively walking or running the length of the nation for this vital work. Over two weeks we'll travel the distance from Gretna Green to John O'Groats, and climb the base camp to summit height of Mount Everest (all within government advice, of course!). Please sponsor us whatever you can to help keep up the fight against blood cancer.
UPDATE: We completed our target distance and height! Thank you for all your support so far! We're still collecting donations as part of our Virtual Pub Quiz to finish off the fundraiser.
