Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

By setting up this page it will give me the motivation required to complete the Brighton Marathon on 14th April 2013. My chosen charity Ochre, help to raise awareness into Oesophageal Cancer which unfortunately took the life of my Dad in 2007. This is a relatively unheard of cancer but one which has terrible survival rates and one which is unfortunately on the increase.

My Dad was a runner and he completed both the London and Potteries Marathon on numerous occasions. Through his illness I made a promise to him that I would quit smoking, which I did. Since then I have slowly got into running and the completion of the marathon in April will be partly due to that promise I made over 5 years ago.

Thank you very much for any donation that you make.

About the charity

OCHRE works to raise awareness of oesophageal cancer, a hard to treat, less survivable cancer. We fund research to support better outcomes. We work with health services and policy makers to improve understanding of the dangers of heartburn and the need for earlier diagnosis which can save lives.
