Story
We are planning to run the length of the Central Line (50 miles / 80 kilometres) from Epping to West Ruislip in one go post Lockdown. Here's why:
Emily's last 2 years:
2018
December 15th Age 24 years old. Made redundant.
2019
January 1st Gave up sausage rolls for a year
January 2nd Diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer
January 3rd Gave up drinking
January 4th Emily was told she'd never be able to have children
January 12th Full hysterectomy and tumour removal during 11 hours of surgery
February 13th Hair shaved
February 14th Valentines Day. Commenced chemotherapy. Parking ticket.
June 14th First WKD in 6 months
June 18th All clear scans. Second WKD in 6 and a bit months.
December 16th Secondary clearance. Multiple WKDs
2020
1st January First sausage roll in a year. Life returning to normal. Gave up pasta
10th January No more fizzy drinks for life - including WKD - after stomach pains
18th August 16 rounds of preventative chemotherapy finishes
23rd June Greggs reopens post lockdown Version 1. Life is good
1st September Got dream job. Life is great
4th September 2 tumours found around kidneys
7th September Operation to have 2 stents put into kidneys
1st November Awaiting further results. Doctors fear Cancer has returned. Waiting for confirmation.
3rd December Cancer is back - confirmed
23rd December Emily was told cancerous tumours now incurable
1st January First pasta dish in a year. Gave up pizza
6th January Chemotherapy re-starts
Present day, in the Royal Marsden 3-4 times a week.
Lady Garden Foundation promotes awareness for gynaecological Cancers & raises funds for the Royal Marsden - where Emily has been treated at least once a week since 2019.
