Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may already be aware my Mum suffers from Lupus. This is a relatively unknown autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue in many parts of the body. It can be life threatening. My Mum will be the first to admit that without the research done by Lupus and the treatments they have developed she would no longer be with us. I am therefore very grateful to this charity. I have raised money for Lupus before and felt it was the right Charity to run London marathon for. This time however I have managed to convince Louise my sister in law and Vic to run for Lupus also. We are all grateful to the West Midlands Lupus Group for giving us the opportunity to Run London Marathon.
For Louise this will be her 10th marathon (a serial marathoner if you ask me) Her aim was to run 10 marathons before she was 50 and seeing as she's only 48 she's smashed it. She'll now have to increase the number to 15!! I have run a few races with Louise and she has a steely determination. She puts her game face on (literally a full application of make up) and off she goes. Nothing will stop her. I could definitely borrow some of her mental strength. I am very pleased she decided to run London for Lupus so please support her on her fantastic achievement of 10 Marathons.
Vic will be undertaking her first marathon and like so many people before her have felt she is understandably dreading it. Well dreading the thought of it. However, she is embracing the challenge and has already made some life style changes to help her achieve this goal. Vic is a close friend and luckily lives quite nearby so we will be undertaking some of our training together. We have done some training runs before and she moans a lot. Ha ha! Saying that she has made it through them. I believe Vic will get stronger week by week and smash this. Like Louise I'm pleased she is running to raise money for Lupus and please help support her on her first and maybe last marathon journey.
As for myself I will taking on my 6th marathon. I am not a marathon runner by any stretch of the imagination. My heart and lungs are big enough but I need longer thinner legs and a tougher mental strength. I love the training and discipline it installs in me. I will do my best and along the way raise as much money for Lupus as I can. On the day I will be grateful for the opportunity to not only have the chance to run London marathon but also that I can run it. Any support is really appreciated.
These 3 girls can!!
