Story

Our intelligent, selfless and incredibly beautiful daughter Liv took her own life on September 19th. She struggled periodically with her mental health but in her lowest times never felt able to speak out and voice her negative thoughts.

Liv was crippled by the stigma and perceived shame around mental health as are many many young people. In her best times, Liv looked for opportunities to support others who were suffering and endeavoured to combat the ‘perfect’ norms that are portrayed on social media and in day to day life.

The irony of this tragic situation is that in Liv’s darkest hour, she is bringing hope and enabling family and friends to SPEAK OUT. In essence, this is the premise of Papyrus’ work and so we feel that rather than sending flowers, it would be great if friends, family and loved ones could donate a small amount to champion this cause where possible.

We have provided details of the great work that Papyrus is doing below:

Suicide is the leading cause of deaths for people aged under 35 in the UK. Papyrus exists to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by shattering the stigma around suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
