Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Things should never be judged by their size, and that’s coming from “quite a big chap” as I keep being told. Mom may have been diminutive in statue but inside was giant, a fighter, a survivor and a worker.
She kept going, no matter what obstacles life put in the way. Her mantra was...... “you just have to get through it”.....things will turn out okay.
She loved to shop, shoes a particular weakness. The number of pairs bought.....that didn’t quite fit..... too many to mention. Clothes as well, she always wanted to look smart.
She could also pack a punch.....I used to go to school with the evidence!! We soon knew when to take cover.
She loved her family. Always looking forward to seeing them.
One of life’s obstacles took her eldest Son. This was one that she couldn’t get through. She was devastated. Then she lost her Husband, another obstacle that couldn’t be overcome.
At the same time, Alzheimers was slowly taking over. Robbing her of her independence. She hated relying on others. She always liked to look smart, now it was a struggle to dress. At the day centre though the dancer that was inside her lived on. Dancing was replaced with foot tapping and a love of music.
The Alzheimer’s obstacle got bigger though, this was a fight that she couldn’t fight. How do you fight when you don’t remember how?
She lost the fight early on the morning of Sunday the 16th August 2020.
Rest in peace Mom, we love you.
It’s a horrible disease, what it takes from people what it makes people do. It’s degrading and heartbreaking . We hope you’ll find it in your hearts to make a donation, however small, so that maybe a cure will be found someday.
