On the 10th of April, Wellington Samaritans will be holding Walk With Me, a fun walk / run to raise funds and awareness of our telephone helpline. This event is much more than just a walk or a run; it is a way for us to raise the vital donations we need to operate. Wellington Samaritans receive no Government funding; instead, we rely solely on grants, donations and events like Walk With Me to operate. We receive over 20,000 calls per year and our incredible volunteers work day and night, 365 days per year. Tragically, in 2019/20, 41 people from within the Wellington region died by suicide. Every dollar raised helps us continue to provide our life-changing and life-saving helpline free of charge to those who need it.
