Story
I'm walking for Break the Silence because I've been fortunate enough to have spent my childhood, and adult years, in a family where I always felt safe and my trust wasn't manipulated by those who should be caring for me.
I know that's not the case for everyone, and the devastating impact that it has both in childhood but continuing through life. It affects ability to trust, to form healthy relationships, to make decisions which keep you safe and stays with you every day.
Break the Silence do amazing work with people who have survived childhood sexual trauma to help them heal and be able to cope with everyday life. It's not always easy to fundraise for a cause which isn't as attractive as saving puppies and kittens (both of which I love), and is rarely talked about in the open, so I decided to try and do a little bit to help.
