Story
Depaul UK works with some of the most disadvantaged young people in the UK. Specialising in community work where poverty and long-term unemployment have resulted in generations of social exclusion and high rates of homelessness.
No young person should have to sleep rough, and while Depaul work to provide the accommodation that offers an immediate answer to homelessness, they also work to prevent young people from becoming homeless in the first place. In 2017, they supported 3,763 young people who faced homelessness.
As an MP I have been working in the Chichester constituency to support local charities and organisations that do an wonderful job supporting people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. In the House of Commons I've been working to promote this issue and I have supported legislation to end homelessness across the UK.
This year, to raise vital funds for the emergency and preventative
services Depaul provides nationally, I will be sleeping out at the Kia Oval on Wednesday 10th October. I hope that this sleep-out will help to continue to raise the profile of the issue and raise some money for this incredible charity.
