Aspire Channel Swim 2014 · 1 December 2014 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Hi everyone!

Over the past 6 weeks, I have been the equivalent length across the English Channel in a swimming pool to raise money for people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury. I am now halfway through my challenge, and I hope to complete it soon!

Every eight hours someone is paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury. It can happen to anyone at any time, and there is currently no cure. Every pound that I raise means that Aspire can provide practical help to a spinal injured person, allowing them to live a more independent life, so please donate as much as you can and help make a difference.

This is an extremely worthy cause, and I urge you to either donate to the charity or learn more about Spinal Cord injuries, as it is a relatively unknown but greatly traumatic experience.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

Gill :)
