Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In January 2018 my life was brought to a sudden standstill when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 38 years of age.
Words cannot describe the devastation, heartbreak and fear that I experienced when the news was broken to us. I was young, fit and healthy (or so I thought!) Cancer does not discriminate. It can affect any one of us at any time and life all of a sudden is turned upside down.
Endless appointments followed, major surgery and then the dreaded chemotherapy.
I knew this would be a bad experience but nothing could have prepared me for the marathon that was ahead of me. I hated my visits to the Christie week in, week out, for what seemed to last an eternity. It felt as though it was never going to end. But with the help and support from friends and family I made it, I rang that bell!
I have just celebrated my 40th birthday and I pray that I have another 40 years of cancer free life ahead of me!
Without the treatment I received from the Christie my story could have been very different. I have been hitting the gym again since treatment ended in September and have decided to challenge myself to raise money for the Christie so that more research can take place and more people can hopefully survive their cancer diagnosis and go on to enjoy life.
I have never been a runner but I now believe that if I can get through last year I can achieve almost anything so myself and a few friends who have been there by my side throughout last year are going to do the Manchester 10k and hope to raise lots of money for the hospital that no one wants to have to go to but that saves so many lives including mine.
