Story
As many of you will know, Andy, our lovely husband and dad passed away as a result of mesothelioma last month.
Mesothelioma was not a word that meant anything to us until 4 years ago. It's a very rare form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos and can take many years to develop. Although it isn't currently curable, remarkable research is being done, much of it out of Leicester where Andy spent a lot of time. Whilst there, we were looked after by a remarkable team of doctors and nurses. A number of these wonderful nurses were funded by Meso UK and the specialist knowledge they had meant that Andy was given very individual and appropriate advice and care. The relationships we formed were so supportive and special and we have had phone calls, cards and emails since Andy passed away from all the nurses we had contact with.
Meso UK relies on charitable donations and fundraising and we know that Andy would be delighted that we are raising money for them.
In 2014 we had planned a trip to Snowdon but after Andy's diagnosis had put it on hold. Well, we are doing it now and we know that Andy will be with us every step of the way.
