Story
'Gifts of Life' is an exciting new photographic project by Sarah Milne, in partnership with the national organ donation awareness charit 'Live Life Then Give Life'. The work captures the lives of those of waiting for or having received a gift of life of an organ transplant and those who have made that gift possible by donating their loved one's organs
Sarah is a photographer and writer and Mum to William who received a small bowel transplant in November 2008. .
'Gifts of Life' also incorporates an exploration of the relationship between living kidney donors and their recipients. This work is by photographer and living kidney transplant recipient, Holly Cocker.
The project aims to raise organ donation awareness in a novel way and to a new audience through the use of photographic art. The work will be exhibited at the Menier Gallery in London from December 14th - 19th, before going on tour around the UK in 2010. A photo book will be available as an accompaniment to the exhibition.
This is an ambitious project that promises to create something very powerful that will have a big impact on raising awareness of organ donation among many people. There are costs involved and Sarah and Holly will be working hard over the coming months to raise the money needed. The money raised on this page will go to Live Life Then Give Life where it will be ringfenced to be used only for this project.
It will cost £250 for each of the images in the main exhibition, including the costs of the photo shoot, printing and mounting the image, its share of the exhibiton space and all the publicity needed to get people in to see it. We are inviting people, groups and businesses to sponsor an image. In return, you will get acknoweldgement under the image and in the photo book, an invite to the private viewing in London and a copy of the book. You can use this page to sponsor an image or get in touch with us on the email address below.
