Story
I talked myself out of doing the half marathon - which is just one of the reasons I told myself to do it. Rebelling against the inner dialogue and doing it anyway!
Another reason is that my boyfriend has inspired me by completing the half marathon a few months ago and ever since then, I've known between us we can do anything!
A subject very close to my heart is homelessness. Something that is overlooked far too often. Having lost my home and everything in it only a few years ago to fire, I knew first hand what it was like to lose everything. To have that feeling of 'I have nowhere to sleep tonight. I only have the clothes I'm sitting in. I have no money. That means I can't eat or sleep........... What I did have was support and friends. They were there and they gave me the support financially, on the phone and lending me clothes. They just knew what to do.
This is what Crisis does. They've done it for years and they're doing a great job in providing that support to the homeless and helping them create possibilities for themselves! - Every one of us has it in us to help in a small way by donating.
Last Christmas I spent three days volunteering at the Deptford Homeless Centre volunteering by providing company, conversation and an exhausting afternoon of football with them (I think that was the moment I realised I needed to get fit actually!)
While I have done smaller fundraising and voluntary events since then, I have wanted to do something bigger that will have a positive impact. I have seen where the money goes and you'd only have to look at the website at www.crisis.org.uk to see the results that they're creating with our help.
Please could you all donate something to support this cause and help create possibilities and futures for our fellow human beings.
