Story
Rokeby School has embarked on a partnership with Jubilee Boys’ School in Cape Coast, Ghana. This exchange is a fantastic opportunity for students from both schools to broaden their horizons and understanding of the world through joint curriculum projects and reciprocal student visits. Rokeby’s student team is an enthusiastic group of young people whose organisational skills are being put to the test as they strive to raise the funds needed to facilitate their visit to Ghana in 2016. So far they’ve demonstrated their entrepreneurial flair by initiating staff car washes, cake sales, approaching local businesses and organising a football tournament. 10% of all monies raised for the exchange (£1,900) will be donated to the Sabre Trust, a charity delivering grassroots educational programmes in Ghana. Please help us reach our target. All donations welcome – no matter how small! Your contribution will directly benefit a charity that's bringing about ground breaking educational change in Ghana.
The partnership is supported by Partner Schools Worldwide (http://www.partnerschoolsworldwide.co.uk), a social enterprise supporting links between secondary schools in the UK and schools in the developing world. Rokeby staff have visited Ghana (October 2014) to meet the link school and reciprocal student visits are planned for July 2016.
