Story
Hand in Hand has supported Grace Foundation International's project since 2004 to re-establish Mogonjet School, a community driven educational establishment for over 700 children in rural western Kenya. Mogonjet is around 40km due south of Kericho.
The school was originally built around 1960 when it was just mud buildings and iron sheets. Hand in Hand has assisted in the construction of 5 secondary school classrooms, 2 pre-primary school classrooms and a community clinic, we have also funded the refurbishment of 10 primary school classrooms. During this time the local community have built teachers houses a toilet bock and had electricity connected and have provided most of the labour for construction projects. All this has resulted in the schools ability to cater for over 500 children from the local area.
Hand in Hand has linked a Chelmsford secondary school with Mogonjet facilitating the communication between them. Each year a group of students from KEGS visit Mogonjet to cement the relationship including teaching in the classes. KEGS have sponsored students with school fees, funded the building of a science laboratory and Tailoring workshop.
