Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the teams JustGiving page.
As you may know or may not know I (Will Clark) sustained a spinal injury after a fall from my bike 5 years ago whilst participating in a charity triathlon.
Back up have played a major role in the 5 years period since my accident so it would be nice to raise some money and give something back!
In order to do this we have formed a team many of whom have been daft enough to push me the distance of the Great North Run. This time the team did what they can to get me up Snowdon. Yes that's right they are a little crazy! But managed it!
My Mum found information on Back up whilst I was still ventilated and in high dependancy. Initially when I was told (the obvious) that my life was going to be different I was put in touch with a mentor called Andy. Andy could draw on his own experiences and tell me what his life was like living with a similar injury. Andy also came into the hospital representing Back up as a wheelchair skills trainer, giving me tips and encouragement.
I have been fortunate enough to have mentored individuals and been involved integrating children with an injury into the school environment. The biggest test came when I spoke about the great work of Back up at an International conference in Vienna.
I have been fortunate enough to enjoy skiing in Sweden and a city skills course with Back up too. This is a charity I cannot speak highly enough about. I don't know where I would be without their continued support.
Thanks for taking time to read this, I appreciate your generosity. Through Just giving once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
