Story
We want to raise £3,000 so we can create a music studio on the therapy corridor at Michael Carlisle Centre so our service users can create music as part of their recovery from mental illness.
Our service users have told us that creating music is a healing and therapeutic experience.
We are holding a 10-hour danceathon on Friday 16 December. Service users and staff are invited to dance to raise money to fund the new music studio. Our dance partners are the inpatient occupational therapy team.
Speaking about the danceathon, Charlotte Geraghty, clinical lead allied health professional said; “We are really excited to launch the danceathon so we can raise this money and create a great space for service users. I really hope that Team SHSC will take up the challenge of raising this money by doing something fun. See you on the dancefloor!”
The danceathon will run from 7am to 5pm. Music, lights, disco props and all the feel-good vibes will be on display as the mobile disco takes in any and everyone at SHSC willing to bust a move to raise money for our service users.
Please donate to our cause and help support the care of people using mental health services in Sheffield.
Here's a breakdown of what your money will buy:
- Apple Mac (with logic pro software ): £1200
- Speakers: About £250
- Digital input converter: £100
- Microphones: £100
- Keyboard: £200
Any donation will be gratefully received, whether you contribute to a whole piano or just one key - you'll be helping to build a state-of-the-art therapeutic space.
