Story
The Eve Appeal is the UKs leading gynaecological cancer charity. We fund life-saving research and raise awareness of the five gynaecological cancers: womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.Throughout May, I will be taking on 60k to help save lives.Every day in the UK, 60 women who are diagnosed with one of these cancers. This is far too many.Your donation can help support The Eve Appeal's Ask Eve service so that anyone worried about their gynae health gets the information they need whilst also helping to smash taboos and raise awareness of these cancers, and their signs and symptoms.Thank you so much.
I have been doing little challenges/fundraisers here and there for charities that helped me and Mum focus on the positive through some rough times. This year I'm supporting Eve Appeal by completing 60k (minimum) walk/jog/crawl throughout May. A bunch of awesome women are joining me in this challenge and you can find us all on the team page. Mum was my world and ovarian cancer took her from us too quickly and too soon. Like a lot of women I know, Mum minimised every symptom she experienced, sadly a lot of healthcare professionals did too. It was quite easy to blame and confuse symptoms of ovarian cancer with menopause, IBS, endometriosis, a "grumbling gallbladder," etc.
After she died, I was shocked when I read that around 75% of women avoid going to the doctors because they're embarrassed or ashamed. Eve Appeal works in schools, raises awareness, breaks down the walls of shame and empowers women to be aware of the symptoms that could be indicators of gynaecological cancer. When only 7% of women could identify symptoms of these cancers prior to diagnosis, its so important.
If you got this far, thank you. And if you can spare anything at all, thank you.
I will be matching whatever I raise with my own donation.
