Story
On 23 November, my son Aidan, many of the Readypower team and I together with many others will sleep outside for 1 night so that others may sleep inside for 90 nights.
The shelter will open during the coldest of winter months, from the end of December until the end of March. The shelter really makes a difference to people's lives.
Guests receive breakfast, a warm evening meal and a place to sleep every night.
Volunteers work with guests to help find permanent accommodation and employment, a volunteer podiatrist helps to improve foot health and guests are offered new warm coats and other clothing.
The funds we raised in 2018 meant that:
- 44 people were accommodated across a 3 month period
- 6 of these guests were victims of domestic violence and are now all in safe accommodation
- Overall, 22 guests are now in settled accommodation
It costs roughly £15 per person, per night to run the shelter.
Even a small donation can have a life-changing impact on a vulnerable person with no other sources of support in their life
If you are able to donate, we would be so grateful if you would sponsor us, even if it is just a small amount. We smashed our target last year and we're looking to do it again!
