Story
What will I be doing? Taking part in the final leg of the Clipper Ventures Round the World Yacht Race. Ten identical 70ft yachts will compete to sail first into Liverpool's Albert Dock on 29th July 2006, where the race finishes. I will sail from Jamaica-New York-Jersey-Liverpool. Altogether I will sail 5,250 Nautical miles to the Race Finish. You can keep up with the race progress on http://www.clipper-ventures.co.uk/2006/. I will be racing on Western Australia.com.
As an amateur this race will challenge me in many ways. I will have an intensive introduction to yacht racing and will have to adapt to the daily challenge of life on board. Couped up with 18 crew, wet bunks 24/7 and three hourly watch shifts around the clock. We'll no doubt face impressive seas and winds in the Atlantic and be becalmed when we crave the finish line. If I'm brave enough to sail this route, you are brave enough to sponsor me! Any amount you can afford would be much appreciated - no matter how small.
Who will your money go to? Your money will go to Cancerbackup. I have worked closely with staff at Cancerbackup for the last eight years, in a voluntary capacity. They believe wholeheartedly in providing the best care for people with cancer and their families and friends.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancerbackup will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! 100% of your donation will go to Cancerbackup, my trip is entirely self funded.
Many thanks for your support & I look forward to seeing you on my return.
