Story
Gerry Dunworth received his diagnosis of chronic lung disease in 2006, and he was told he would likely die if he did not receive a transplant of both lungs in the next 3 years. His condition deteriorated significantly in the first year, and it was thought that the doctors initial assessment would be borne out.
Gerry kept fighting his illness and survived 5 years beyond medical expectation sadly passing away on 11.11.2014, still awaiting a transplant. During those extra 5 years Gerry shared many memories with his wife June. And saw the birth of his granddaughters Niamh and Lily and his grandson Brendan, as well as attending the weddings of two of his sons Luke and Matthew.
This page was created in accordance with Gerry's wishes. Gerry asked for friends, relatives, and anyone with a generous and healthy heart and lungs to help raise money by either donation or sponsored event for the British Lung Foundation. In order to help ensure that others may be helped if not to a cure then to at least to give them the chance of some extra precious time with their family, and perhaps to witness such similar happy events as he did in his last years .
