Leo's supports families of sick and premature babies across the North East.I am being amazing and taking part in the Charity's 6.0 Challenge to raise funds for babies born too soon to celebrate World Prematurity Day 2022
💙Prematurity Awareness Month💙
Me and Suki are going to to walk 60k for Leo’s charity in November to raise some funds for them to keep giving the most amazing support to families with sick or preemie babies.
As most of you know my waters broke at 32 weeks and Suki came early. This was a very upsetting and worrying time for all of us. She was in neonatal for 23 days and although she was getting better I was feeling more upset as the time went on.
I was told about Leo's charity by my friend Emily and I reached out for support because I was really struggling. Katie from Leo’s called me a couple of times a week for support. We received peer support from other parents of neonatal babies, swimming sessions, home visits, baby massage sessions, New Born Behavioural Observations and sensory sessions. We are still doing sessions now and Suki loves them. I’ve made lovely new friends with people that have been in similar situations which is amazing.
Leo’s do so much for families and I feel it’s time to give back. They have done so much for us and I will forever appreciate it.
The can also provide EMDR to treat PTSD, pregnancy support, specialised neonatal baby massage & yoga, sensory based yoga for older neonatal graduates and much more.
Leo's covers the North East of England, and their provision costs in excess of £100,000 a year to run, but they cannot do that without the support of fundraisers, the local community and our funders.
They are the only charity in the region offering this level of in depth support to the neonatal community.
Each year more than 60,000 babies are born early and require neonatal care, but it's not just the babies who need caring for, it's the parents, the siblings and the grandparents too.
So please if you can support it would be massively appreciated. And me and Suki will get our walk on!
